A culinary highlight is approaching us in Bangkok! From October 21st to 27th, 2025, the 26th year of the popular Vegetarian Food Festival will be celebrated with the motto “Joy with Jay in Every Gen”. Narin Woralak Tulaporn, CEO of The Mall Group's marketing group, has taken action and is pleased with the exciting development of the festival. Where previously the focus was primarily on religious rituals, the aim is now to create a health and lifestyle event for young and old. This shows once again how important awareness of healthy eating has become in our society.
Over 300 restaurants take part in this special festival and offer a whopping more than 2,000 vegetarian dishes. The spectrum ranges from traditional dishes to modern creations tailored to the needs of today's generation. In addition to delicious dishes, an area called “TOFU VILLAGE” will also be set up in Bangkapi where foodies can choose from over 800 tofu products. Everyone gets their own taste here!
Health and sustainability in focus
The festival not only focuses on enjoyment, but also on the topic of sustainability. The global plant-based food market is now worth over $59 billion and is expected to continue growing at an annual rate of 11% through 2030. In Thailand, over 15% of the population already consumes vegetarian food. This has resulted in an impressive 30-40% annual sales growth during the festival in recent years. Thanks to the increasing demand, the Gourmet Market is not neglected either, where high-quality plant-based products are offered for sale.
In addition, the festival relies on close cooperation with the Ministry of Trade to offer a discount of up to 50% on over 200 vegetarian products. This is a great way to reduce living costs while supporting the healthy eating trend. Especially in the current times, this is a step in the right direction to accommodate the population and promote small businesses.
A trend that remains
The festival is seen not only as a way to celebrate local cuisine, but also as a sign of the growing trend towards a sustainable lifestyle. According to current forecasts, Thailand's plant-based food market is expected to reach 49.5 billion baht. Increasing consumer awareness of health, animal welfare and environmental sustainability is driving this growth and is reflected in participation in the festival.
Flexitarians who want to reduce their meat consumption also contribute to this market share. With this in mind, the festival is a welcome opportunity to present delicious alternatives not only to traditional adherents of vegetarianism, but also to newcomers.
The countdown is on, and it looks like the 26th Vegetarian Food Festival in Bangkok is set to be a complete success! Don't miss the culinary spectacle and enjoy the variety that the healthy food market has to offer!
