Bangkok fights against PM2.5: health campaign launches major initiative!

A fresh breeze of health awareness is blowing through Bangkok! A significant event took place on November 10, 2025, organized by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Bangkok Metropolitan Municipality. Under the motto “Knowledge about PM2.5 for sustainable health”, those responsible were able to present important steps to combat harmful PM2.5 emissions. The campaign focuses on promoting health awareness among the population and building an air quality monitoring system to ultimately protect the health of citizens. This important information is provided by Thaipr.net.

One of the key measures of the campaign was the distribution of N95 masks and dust nets to vulnerable groups, such as those who work outdoors or are bedridden. Those present, including the Health Minister and the Governor of Bangkok, emphasized the urgency of developing long-term strategies to reduce PM2.5 emissions. An important focus is on educating the population about the health effects of these particles.

Current air quality initiatives

The government announced a variety of measures to improve air quality. These include, among other things, the establishment of low emission zones and reforestation projects in which a total of 1.8 million trees are to be planted. The health authority is also working on a reporting system that will record and communicate the impact of PM2.5 on health to the population via the Line OA EnvOccLaw platform.

“We want to actively involve citizens in monitoring air quality,” said the Bangkok governor, highlighting the campaign's alignment with urban development goals. To support citizens, the latest average levels for PM2.5 in Bangkok have risen to 30 micrograms per cubic meter, an increase of 3% compared to last year.

Resources available to the population

The population can now monitor air quality through various platforms and apps, including the website air4thai.pcd.go.th and the mobile apps “Air4Thai” and “Life dee”. These tools are designed to help citizens make informed decisions and protect themselves from the health risks of air pollution.

On a separate note, numerous users on social media have reported issues encountered with device linking and payment processing. On September 8, 2025, many online users complained of difficulties making in-store payments or sending invoices via WhatsApp. Some discussed whether WhatsApp Web could provide a solution to this, while others suggested alternative methods such as sending invoices via email. These developments shed light on current challenges in digital communication, as can be read in the Lowyat Forum.

In the future, it remains to be seen how effective the campaigns to combat air pollution will be and whether they will have a lasting impact on the health of city residents. The use of new technologies for monitoring and information could play a key role. In any case, it is important to remain vigilant and closely follow developments in this area!
