Orange Line construction site: traffic turnaround planned in the city!

On October 25, 2025, senior officials from the Thai Transport Authority, including พลตำรวจตรี ธวัช วงศ์สง่า, visited นายณัฐพงศ์ สงฆ์ประชา and นายสุรพงษ์ เมี้ยนมิตร, the construction site of the Yom Ratch station as part of the extensive Orange Line subway project. The purpose of the visit was to monitor construction work and ensure that traffic impacts are minimized during construction.

Construction work is scheduled to take place from November 2025 to April 2026. During this time, the traffic situation in the area will be adjusted by reducing the lanes along the construction site from the rail transport department to the bridge to just two lanes. This requires careful traffic management to address congestion problems and ensure pedestrian safety.

Concrete measures for traffic safety

The planned measures include, among other things, the establishment of a turning lane (pocket lane) at the entrance to the railway department and the improvement of pedestrian paths, with particular attention to accessibility for people with disabilities. Parking information signs near Maha Nak Market will also be installed to regulate on-street parking and optimize traffic flow.

Furthermore, the traffic authorities (รฟม.) and the police (บชน.) are in close contact in order to find solutions to possible traffic problems together. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed about the progress of the construction site and plan their trips in advance. Information is available on both the project's Facebook page and the transportation authority's website.

Environmental impact and responsible construction

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is conducting comprehensive environmental reviews during the construction of the Orange Line. This section of the project extends from Bang Khun Non to the Cultural Center of Thailand. Review areas include central roads such as Rajini, Phetchaburi, and Vibhavadi Rangsit. The aim of the review is to ensure that the construction works comply with the environmental measures specified in the Environmental Impact Report (EIA).

Environmentally friendly measures include covering piles of earth and building materials to prevent dust, proper garbage disposal, and installing noise barriers. In addition, temporary footpaths will be set up for the safety of residents. Project staff will be available to assist citizens during construction and to help with questions.

The commitment to environmentally friendly and safe construction should not be underestimated. These measures correspond to a growing awareness of sustainable construction, as is also promoted by various certification systems that make the sustainability characteristics of buildings measurable. Considering ecological, economic and social aspects is an important step into the future in view of the changing environment.

The Orange Line has the potential to not only improve Bangkok's transportation infrastructure, but also raise citizens' living standards if environmentally friendly practices are consistently implemented.
