Bangkok starts carbon project: 77 authorities united for climate protection!

An important opening meeting was held on October 30, 2025, chaired by Tosthapol Supharee, Deputy Director of the Bangkok Environment Agency. The project aims to advance knowledge of carbon footprinting for the city's 77 municipal agencies. This includes 50 district offices, 3 offices, 16 departments as well as 8 government agencies under the Bangkok Governor's Office. An important step for a greener future!

This meeting addressed several topics that focused on the background and approaches to creating carbon footprints. The project plan for the 2026 financial year and reporting in the BMA policy tracking system were also on the agenda. The meeting was attended by managers, officials and employees of the Environmental Protection Agency as well as representatives of other city authorities, who were also connected electronically.

A long-term plan for the environment

The Bangkok Environment Agency has been actively collaborating with the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (GBC) for four years. An important measure was the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2023, which promotes the creation of carbon footprints. The vision behind this ambitious undertaking is to involve all city authorities in the issue and increase their capacities. The systematic collection of data is intended to create plans to reduce greenhouse gases.

A central component of the initiative is to support the political objective of “Carbon control, Bangkok without carbon” (BMA Net Zero). This policy aims to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2073. This not only improves the quality of life of citizens, but also makes an important contribution to global environmental protection.

A look at education and digital media

The series' videos provide comprehensive teacher resources, interactive experiences, and can be easily integrated into various teaching tools using the distraction-free YouTube Player for Education. Digital learning is becoming increasingly more attractive and practical. The initiative recognizes the important role of teachers, both in the classroom and behind the scenes.

Facts and figures at a glance

In order to underpin the relevance of education in everyday life, mathematical basics are also important. Did you know that basic mathematical operations like addition and subtraction are not only part of everyday life, but also play a role in analyzing data such as carbon footprints? Here are some interesting examples:

  • 3 + 5 = 8
  • 25 ÷ 2 = 12.5
  • 7.3 + 12.25 – 10.75 = 8.8
  • 13 × 3 × 2 = 78

These fundamentals of mathematics are the basis for many calculations that are used both in education and in environmental projects such as the one mentioned.

With these diverse initiatives, Bangkok shows that the city is on the right course. It remains to be seen how the projects will develop in the coming years and what positive effects they will have on the quality of life of citizens and the environment.
