Khao Yai: Hotel boom and top rankings magically attract tourists!

There is a lot going on in the hotel and catering market in Bangkok and Khao Yai. Despite economic challenges and fluctuating tourist numbers, the industry continues to show high growth potential. Companies that position themselves clearly have several chances to assert themselves successfully in the market. Ariya Korkiatsethian, the founder and managing director of the Lamaya Group and Lacol Group, also emphasized this during an interview. The two groups have achieved considerable success over the last four years and the numbers speak for themselves: sales growth of over 300% and coverage of 400 million baht are just a few examples that show that there is a good hand at play here.

“Destination marketing” plays a central role here. This strategy aims to create landmarks that attract tourists all year round and provide an unforgettable experience. The Lamaya Group has not only established itself in Khao Yai, but has also caused quite a stir in Bangkok. The newly opened Lacol Khaoyai not only attracts couples for romantic proposals but also offers a unique dining experience with its iconic glass dome restaurant and innovative farm-to-table cuisine concept.

Khao Yai: Asia's second rural destination

Khao Yai National Park's appeal is underlined by its latest accolade: According to online travel agency Agoda, Khao Yai is the second most popular rural destination in Asia, surpassed only by Malaysia's Cameron Highlands. The honor relates to accommodation searches between February 15 and August 15, 2025 and shows the popularity of the area, known for its breathtaking nature and outdoor activities.

Deputy government spokesperson Sasikan Wattanachan speaks of the beauty of the region, which impresses with its forests, waterfalls and variety of wildlife. The Thai government aims to promote such natural and cultural attractions internationally. This is intended to not only help generate income, but also support the local community and ensure sustainable growth in tourism.

Expansion and innovation

The Lamaya Group has a portfolio of nine brands, including numerous specialist restaurants and Lacol Khaoyai, which is highly popular in the region. Their expansion plans include opening both Lamaya Bangkok and Lacol Bangkok in the sought-after Sukhumvit location. The next five years will be dominated by expansion into other important cities such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Chonburi/Pattaya. Another focus is on developing high-quality F&B standards and integrating new sub-brands to make the offering even more attractive.

Ultimately, it remains to be said that Bangkok and Khao Yai offer fertile ground for innovative ideas in the hospitality industry. The combination of sustainable tourism and creative concepts could prove to be the key to further growth in this dynamic industry.
