Italian cuisine has always been very popular in Thailand, especially pizza and pasta. Now the Minor Food company is venturing into the premium segment by opening "Hey! Gusto". This new restaurant, located on the 6th floor of Central World in Bangkok, promises an upscale dining experience that puts city dwellers' demands for taste and atmosphere at the forefront. Workpoint Today reports that Market research has shown that demand for premium offerings in Italian gastronomy is increasing, especially since only a few large providers are currently active in this area.
"Hey! Gusto" is inspired by the successfully established brand "Vicoletto Osteria" in Singapore, which serves as a model. Anuphan Nithiyanan, COO of Minor Food, notes that competition in the restaurant market is particularly intense. While the big brands have a strong presence, especially in rural regions, the rapid appetite for new culinary experiences actually opens up opportunities in Bangkok. The restaurant team was trained in Singapore to learn the best of design, presentation and menu selection and adapt these elements to Thai tastes.
Menu highlights and adjustments
And what’s on the plate? Among other things, authentic Italian dishes such as burrata, pizza alla pala and fresh pasta made from high-quality imported flour are served. To meet local preferences, some spices were reduced and the focus was placed on beef dishes. This is also reflected in the rapid acceptance of the new brand: after just one month in business, sales figures exceeded those of the previous restaurant at the same location by an impressive 100%.
Minor Food plans to expand in the future, but this will depend on the success in the first six months. The company wants to focus on the premium market in Italian dining and sees great potential. Thus, "Hey! Gusto" becomes a significant step in the world of fine Italian cuisine in Thailand.
