Bangkok optimizes traffic: new lanes and shuttle buses in use!
On October 28, 2025, Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sitthiphan and Deputy Governor Wisanu Tapsomboon visited the Sanghi transport hub in Dusit. Their goal was to monitor adjustments in traffic after a data collection on October 27th. Employees from the traffic and transport office and the Dusit district office were also on site to analyze the current traffic situation. And the news is encouraging: fluidity has improved significantly compared to the previous day, as today.line reports.
The recent adjustments to the Sanghi junction are particularly noteworthy. In the morning, the number of right-turn lanes was increased from one to two, which will remain in effect until 9:00 a.m. In the afternoon, one lane will be available for traffic from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., while right turns remain possible. Road users heading into the city are strongly advised to turn left onto Chao Street.
Improvement measures and shuttle buses
In order to further improve the traffic situation, several measures have been introduced. These include moving barriers to better direct traffic, clearer markings on the road and deploying traffic crews to direct pedestrian traffic at crosswalks. A further step towards traffic optimization is the introduction of the “BMA Feeder” shuttle buses. This service includes a total of seven buses, decorated in a striking yellow and white color scheme, and follows on from the original pick-up point at Office Mate on Sirinthorn Street. In addition, three buses are available for passengers at Sirinthorn MRT station. Passengers are requested to use Exit 1 and go to the pickup point in front of Krungthon Market.
Real-time tracking of the buses via the ViaBus app is particularly convenient, which helps passengers to plan their journey better. Chatchart Sitthiphan emphasizes that it is important to continuously make adjustments based on daily data analysis in order to continually improve the traffic situation.
Expansion of the BMA Feeder project
In addition to the existing initiative, the Bangkok Metropolitan Municipality plans to expand the BMA Feeder project with five new routes, scheduled to launch on July 1, 2025. The project aims to promote the use of public transport, reduce the use of private vehicles and reduce air pollution. Currently, the two routes already in operation offer very convenient connections: the route from Wat Puranawas to Phutthabhum Bridge and the connection from Thonburi Market to Lak Song MRT station are available daily from 06:00 to 20:00.
The five new routes at a glance:
- Din Daeng – BTS Sanam Pao: täglich, 06:00-20:00 Uhr.
- MRT Bang Khun Non – 4 Märkte Taling Chan: nur samstags, sonntags und an Feiertagen, 09:00-17:30 Uhr.
- Sam Sen Straße – Verbindung zur Thonburi-Seite (Tang Hua Seng): Montag bis Freitag, 06:00-19:00 Uhr.
- Kheha Romklao-Gemeinde – ARL Lat Krabang: täglich, 06:00-20:00 Uhr.
- Kindermuseum (Chatuchak) – BTS Mo Chit: nur samstags, sonntags und an Feiertagen, 09:00-17:30 Uhr.
The city government uses electric shuttle buses for the BMA Feeder service to efficiently transport passengers to the extensive rail network.
Bangkok has a well-developed public transport network that offers numerous options for both tourists and locals. Offers range from BTS Skytrain and MRT Metro to Chao Phraya Express Boats and the Airport Rail Link. This diversity makes it easy to explore the city while at the same time combating environmental pollution, thereby sustainably improving the quality of life in the metropolis ( bangkokinsiders.com ).
Overall, it shows that the city administration's efforts to improve public transport and flow are bearing fruit. With constant monitoring and adjustment, Bangkok is becoming a little more pleasant for its citizens and visitors.
