Culinary future: Makro HoReCa 2025 inspires with innovations!
The largest comprehensive food and innovation exhibition in Thailand, makro HoReCa 2025, took place from October 30 to November 2, 2025. Organized by Makro, almost 40,000 visitors, including entrepreneurs from the HoReCa industry as well as culinary enthusiasts, gathered to discover the latest trends and developments in this dynamic industry.
Under the theme “FOOD INFINITY – ธุรกิจอาหารโตได้ไม่สิ้นสุด”, the event aimed to promote Thai entrepreneurs and improve standards in the catering industry. At the opening ceremony, conducted by Sub Lt. Chaired by Chakra Yodmani, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, various highlights were presented. The participants were able to gain knowledge and exchange innovative ideas in eight key zones. Highlights included the makro HoReCa Challenge 2025, a cooking competition under royal patronage, and the makro PRO Zone, an e-commerce platform with over 250 stalls.
Competitions and awards
One of the highlights of the event was the national cooking competition “makro HoReCa Challenge 2025”, which was dedicated to the topic “Taste of Asia”. The winners, including Nattapol Khunyosying and Warit Tipkom in the Modern Asian Street Food category, demonstrated the potential of Thai gastronomy. The “makro HoReCa Start-up Pitching Challenge”, in which innovative business ideas were presented, was also very well received. The winner, Gang Kobun, with his Thai curry bread, impressed the jury with his creative idea.
Not only were the competitions impressive, but also the numerous awards presented during the event. The most significant include the Supplier Sustainability Awards 2025 and the Best Exhibition Award, which recognize the commitment to sustainability and high standards in the industry.
Sustainability in focus
Also worth mentioning is the AXTRA Green Together sustainability project, which aims to separate waste and reduce food waste. At a time when environmental awareness is becoming increasingly important, this project shows that the Thai HoReCa industry is not only thinking about profit, but also about its ecological footprint.
The makro HoReCa 2025 was not only a platform for exchange and inspiration, but also demonstrated the viability and innovative power of Thai gastronomy. According to the Voice of Asean, the HoReCa sector in Thailand has grown from local street stalls to multi-billion dollar companies that are not only gaining national but also international recognition.
The next edition, the “makro HoReCa 2026”, will be organized under the leadership of Hyesung Baek and once again promises to inspire the industry and take Thai gastronomy to the next level. If you think that the culinary options will be exhausted at some point, you should definitely stop by the next event, because the possibilities are endless!
