Illegal entry: 37 foreigners arrested at the border crossing in Chumphon!

The Thai Border Police conducted a bold and comprehensive inspection at the Ban Hin Dad border crossing, located in Tambon Rap Ro, Amphoe Tha Sa, Chumphon, on November 2, 2025. Under the direction of R.T. Colonel Chaiya Sittichan, the chief of the special operations unit, and R.T. Lieutenant Noppanat Srisupha, head of Border Police Unit 414, discovered several suspects and illegal travelers during this operation. Be careful, this is not an isolated case. Thai police have recently increased their focus on cross-border crime and illegal activities to ensure security in the country and boost tourist confidence, reports Thailand tip.

During the inspection, two conspicuous pickup trucks were targeted. The first car, a white Toyota with license plate บว 7524 Chumphon, was overloaded with 21 foreign workers (1 man, 6 women and 14 children) as well as a large amount of luggage. A group of 17 pedestrians (9 adults and 8 children) who also wanted to enter the country illegally were also discovered. In total, officials were able to locate 37 foreign workers who had returned from Myanmar and were said to have taken part in a religious ceremony.

In the second vehicle, also a white Toyota with the license plate ขจ 8950 Surat Thani, there were six Thais, including a village head from Chumphon. The driver of the first vehicle, Mr. Mueangphet Kaewleua, said he transported family and some workers to the religious event without receiving any payment. The entire process underlines once again that illegal entry into Thailand is a serious problem. Facts from the dictionary show that “illegal” means to break the law, which is obviously true here. The investigation is underway to clarify the legal status of all those affected and to return them to Border Police 414. Some foreign workers were issued valid identification documents, but their entry is still classified as illegal Cambridge Dictionary explained.

The Thai police's offensive against illegal activities also follows a nationwide campaign that resulted in numerous high-profile operations. The aim was to combat the problems of illegal immigration and related illegal activities, which damage both the internal market and the tourism sector. During intensive screening, nearly 2,746 people were arrested nationwide between February 3 and 8, 2023. Particularly worrying are the satisfactory figures for cross-border crime: 431 arrests and 441 suspects.

This latest initiative by the Border Police reflects its serious approach to the issue of illegal entry and cross-border crime to ensure the safety of citizens and tourists and to present Thailand as a safe travel destination. It remains to be seen how future measures to combat these problems will be further strengthened in order to further promote Thailand as an attractive destination for visitors.
